About the Greenwood Flying Monkeys

Launching in 2026, the Greenwood Flying Monkeys will bring a new era of summer baseball and entertainment to Greenwood and the Lakelands region. The Flying Monkeys join the Blue Ridge League with a mission to combine highly competitive collegiate baseball, creative ballpark fun, and the rich character that makes Greenwood one of South Carolina’s great small cities.

The Flying Monkeys will play their home schedule at historic Legion Field in Greenwood. Fans can expect 20+ home dates each summer — complete with theme nights, local food and drink, family activities, and plenty of surprises. These games are designed to feel like minor league baseball events, with the relaxed charm of a summer evening at the ballpark.

Why “Flying Monkeys”?

The Flying Monkeys name is a playful nod to one of the most famous stories ever told in American pop culture — The Wizard of Oz. In that classic tale, the mischievous flying monkeys were unforgettable characters who brought energy, chaos, and excitement wherever they appeared.
